Fling cars across the screen and stick the landing on the target — a one-more-try physics toy.
What is Car Darts?
Car Darts is a physics toy with one instruction, straight from the developer: land your car, bro. You launch vehicles toward a target and try to bring them down on the mark. That's the whole game — and that's why it works. Every attempt takes seconds, every miss feels like your fault, and every hit is immediately worth another try.
It shipped as a free browser game from a solo developer who credits AI tools in its build, and we picked it up the same day it went live.
Car Darts belongs to a long lineage of browser physics toys — the kind of game that lives in a tab, gets opened between tasks, and quietly eats half an hour. There are no menus to sit through and no tutorial to skip: the first car is already loaded by the time you've decided to play. That frictionless shape is exactly why it suits a solo AI-assisted build — every system on screen is doing visible work, and nothing exists just to pad a session.
How to play
Each round puts a car on one side and a landing target somewhere across the screen. You choose the launch and let the physics do the rest — the car arcs, tumbles, and (if you judged it right) settles on the target. Hit the mark to move on; miss and you're one quick retry away from another attempt.
The rhythm is the hook. A full round takes seconds, the retry is instant, and the target rarely sits where the last one did, so your brain never gets to settle into a single solved answer. Expect your first few cars to go everywhere except the mark — that's normal, and it's also the tutorial. By the time you've stuck three or four landings in a row you'll be adjusting angle and power by feel, the way you'd learn any real-world throwing motion.
Tips for landing your car
- Think in arcs, not lines. Most early misses come from aiming flat at the target. Give the car a higher arc and let gravity bring it down onto the mark instead of into the ground short of it.
- Adjust one variable at a time. If you overshot, change the angle or the power — not both. Because attempts are instant, it's easy to turn a near-miss into a solved shot within two or three tries.
- Watch the bounce. Cars don't stick where they first touch. Aim for the far edge of the target so a forward roll still finishes on it.
- Chase your own streak. There's no fail state worth worrying about, so the real game is how few attempts a clean landing takes you.
- Read every miss as data. A car that lands short and left isn't a random failure — it's a measurement. Halve the adjustment you think you need and you'll usually hit on the next attempt.
- Take the boring shot when a streak is live. The flashy flat cannonball feels great until it bounces off. When you're three landings deep into a clean run, choose the ugly high arc that always works.
Who is Car Darts for?
Anyone with three minutes and a mouse. It's a natural coffee-break game — short enough to play one round, sticky enough to play twenty. If you enjoy scoreless toys where the only opponent is your own last attempt, or you want a stream-friendly game that an audience can shout advice at in real time, this is that game. And because it runs entirely in the browser, "just one more" costs nothing but the click.
